Location: Tallinn is located in Northern Europe in the north-western part of the Baltic Sea region, 80 km south of Helsinki, on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland. 59’26’ North latitude, 24’46’ East longitude.  Distance to Stockholm: 380 km, to St. Petersburg: 400 km, to Berlin: 1030 km

Climate: The climate in Estonia is temperate, characterized by warm summers and fairly severe winters. The weather is often breezy and humid due to the proximity of the Baltic Sea.  Average temperatures range from + 20C in summer (July is the hottest month) to –8C in winter. Although occasionally the temperature may rise to more than +30C in summer or sink below – 30C in winter.

Population: The population of Tallinn is 453 328 (01.10.2018). Nationalities living in Tallinn: Estonian 53.2%, Russian 38%, Ukrainian 3.4%, other 5,3%.

Language: Official language is Estonian which belongs to the Finno-Ugric language group. English, Finnish and Russian are widely spoken.

Religion: One third of Tallinn´s population feels an affiliation to a religion.
Among the religious population Orthodox Christians and Lutherian Christians are the most prevalent.

Visa: Schengen visa area regulations apply. Nationals of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and any third-country national holding a residence permit of a Schengen State do not need a visa to enter Estonia. Guests are strongly advised to check their need for visa in your home country.

Airport: Tallinn Lennart Meri Airport is situated only 4 km from the city center making the airport easily accessible. The terminal is modern and cosy with plenty of shopping and dining options.
